Thales is a French aerospace and defense industrial and one of Europe’s largest defense contractors with EUR 18 billion in sales. The company has three segments: defense and security provides sensors, mission systems, communications, and control systems to European and export defense customers; aerospace sells avionics and satellites to the civil, defense, and governmental markets; and digital identity and security provides biometric, data, and identity security solutions, payments services, and the manufacturing of SIM cards.


Thales SA (HO) is a French multinational company headquartered in Paris, France. The company was initially established as Thomson-CSF in 1968, with roots tracing back to Compagnie Française Thomson-Houston, founded in 1893. It was rebranded as Thales SA in 2000.
The company's activities cover avionics, air traffic management, defence mission systems, naval and land defence equipment, cybersecurity, and digital identity solutions. Thales is also a major provider of satellites and space technologies through its joint venture Thales Alenia Space with Leonardo.
Serving governments, armed forces, space agencies, and commercial clients worldwide, Thales has operations across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The group is investing in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and cybersecurity to strengthen its position in critical digital and defence infrastructures.
