About Alphabet Inc. Class A
Alphabet is a holding company that wholly owns internet giant Google. The California-based company derives slightly less than 90% of its revenue from Google services, the vast majority of which is advertising sales. Alongside online ads, Google services houses sales stemming from Google’s subscription services (YouTube TV and YouTube Music, among others), platforms (sales and in-app purchases on Play Store), and devices (Chromebooks, Pixel smartphones, and smart home products such as Chromecast). Google’s cloud computing platform accounts for roughly 10% of Alphabet’s revenue. The firm’s investments in up-and-coming technologies such as self-driving cars (Waymo), health (Verily), and internet access (Google Fiber) make up the rest.
Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) is a US-based holding company and the parent of Google and a group of affiliated technology businesses. Formed in 2015 through a corporate restructuring of Google, Alphabet is headquartered in Mountain View, California, and operates across digital advertising, consumer electronics, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence.
Google remains the company’s largest subsidiary, encompassing products such as Search, YouTube, Maps, Gmail, and Android. It also develops Pixel smartphones, Nest smart home devices, and Chromebooks. Google Cloud provides infrastructure, analytics, and AI tools to organisations in both the public and private sectors.
Alphabet’s other subsidiaries, referred to as “Other Bets”, include ventures focused on autonomous vehicles (Waymo) and life sciences (Verily). This group structure enables capital allocation across core revenue businesses and experimental technologies.
Alphabet is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
