IF SOMEONE CONTACTS YOU UNEXPECTEDLY
- Stop – taking a moment to stop and think before parting with your money or information could keep you safe.
- Challenge – is this genuine? It's OK to reject, refuse or ignore any requests. Only criminals will try to rush or panic you.
- Protect – contact someone you trust, such as a friend or family member and contact the company directly. You can contact us on 0207 151 2100.
WHAT A SCAM CAN LOOK LIKE
- Individuals set up social media accounts and include screenshots of trading, cash and try to convince people that they are successful traders.
- The fraudsters may claim that they work for regulated firms.
- The fraudster will ask the individual to make payment into an account that doesn’t match the company they claim to represent, providing false assurances that the money is safe. The fraudster will then follow up saying that the value of the victim’s investments has doubled and ask for a payment to “release” the funds back to the victim, or threaten that the entire balance including the original capital will otherwise be lost.
PROTECT YOURSELF ONLINE
It’s important to always remain vigilant to security threats when online, and report anything to us that you feel may be suspicious.
See our tips to remain safe online:
- Think and check before clicking on links in emails and text messages.
- Be wary of suspicious emails – validate any unusual or unexpected payment instructions. Contact us to verify if it’s a legitimate email.
- Don’t ignore security warnings on your browser – this may mean the site is fake or being intercepted.
- Create safe passwords – see more below.
- Use trusted mobile apps and lock your device when you’re not using it.
- Keep your software and operating system up to date to help prevent online attacks.
GOOD PASSWORDS
Using good passwords is integral to protecting your online activity.
KEEP PASSWORDS SAFE
- Avoid reusing the same password
- Don't share your passwords with anyone
- Consider using a password manager – an app on your device that stores your passwords so that you can keep them long and unique and don’t have to remember them all.
Verify the Purpose of the Communication
Saxo will never ask for your log in credentials or any personal information outside of the Saxo platform. Do NOT click on any unknown or suspicious-looking links, open or download attachments.
- Fraudulent emails might contain poor grammar, awkward sentence structure or spelling errors, inaccurate logos or email addresses.
(Examples of fraudulent instant messaging channels impersonating Saxo. Notice how the sentence structure and grammar are relatively poor.)
Funding And Withdrawals To/from Your Saxo Account

Protecting Your Saxo Account
2-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION
Remember Saxo will never ask you to register any new devices to your account or provide any verification codes.
PASSWORD MANAGEMENT
- Ensure your personal email account registered with Saxo is protected: use a secure password and update it regularly. We encourage employing 2FA where possible.
- Create unique and secure passwords for each platform: by using individual passwords for each access point, you can minimise the risk of account compromise.
- In general, the longer your password – the better.
- Make sure to mix both lower and upper-case letters, and include symbols and characters.
- Avoid including personal information and easily memorable keyboard paths into your password.
- Do not save your log in credentials in browsers as this increases the risk of malware attacks.
- Never enter your log in credentials into unfamiliar platforms or websites.
