The most bought and sold stocks last week.

Nvidia regained the crown for the most traded stock from SpaceX, knocking Elon Musk’s rockets-to-AI company into second place. But barely over half (51%) of client trades in Nvidia were buys, while only 38% of SpaceX trades were a buy. Trading activity seemed to lack much conviction across some of the major tech names with fewer than half of client trades in Microsoft, Tesla, Palantir, Meta and Micron being buys.

We saw stronger sentiment towards Broadcom with 75% buys for the third most traded stock as clients apparently lent into weakness, with the stock sliding on underwhelming revenue guidance despite bumper earnings in the last quarter and a very strong longer-term outlook for profit growth. Dell rose to make the top 20 most traded stocks after reporting strong AI-related demand.

Credo Technology jumped up the leaderboard for the most actively traded shares as clients bought in on weakness after the stock plunged around –27% last week on declining margins and rising costs in spite of better-than-expected first half results.

Mag7 names Alphabet and Apple were firm favourites as they remained in the top ten most traded maintained strong buy ratios.

Further down the list clients were buyers of Strategy but sellers of Coinbase as we saw some divergence across the crypto stock sector. Moderna dropped out the most traded after it had a blistering August that saw it the best performing stock on the S&P 500 for the month.

Here’s a list of our top 20 most traded stocks of the last week with the percentage of buys.
