Morning Brew August 29 2025
Good morning!
Ther are three data points that could alter the expectations for a September rate cut in my view:
- Todays PCE Deflator (the Feds most important inflation measure, expected at 2.6-5 and 2.9% Core)
- Next weeks Non Farm Payroll
- The Payroll adjustment September 9
We are also heading into a three day US Weekend due to the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, also many options on Nvidia to trade the earnings release expire today - we can expect sharp moves.
Will sentiment carry us on or will we see a correction? Next week we expect new massive inflows from passive investments that have often come to the rescue in recent months…
Our Autoinvest will make the next purchasing round on Friday the 5th!!
In other news:
- Lisa Cook filed a lawsuit on Thursday claiming President Donald Trump has no power to remove her from office
- The tariff exemption for package shipments valued under $800 ended on Friday, raising costs and complexity and causing several postal services to stop parcels to the US altogether.
- Japan's factory output fell more than feared in July at -1.6% vs -1% expected
Heading into this important day, we are at key levels: The S&P closed at another all time high, Gold breached the 3400 and Silver is testing the 39.00. the Magnificent 7 are close to their all time high as well.
