Summary: Join Saxo’s Head of FX Strategy, John J Hardy, for an in-depth preview of Wednesday's crunch Federal Reserve policy meeting, which may kick off the start of only the fourth easing cycle in over 20 years.,
Join me for a thorough run down of this Wednesday’s Federal Open Market Committee meeting, where I look at how the market is pricing this meeting and what might happen if the Fed surprises either way and even in the more difficult to predict scenario that there is no surprise at all.
This year marks only the fourth time in more than 20 years that the Fed has embarked on an easing cycle and the beginning of these easing cycles have seen very different outcomes.
In the latter part of the video, I take a look at how every past easing cycle since 1998's unfolded and how risky assets and the US dollar have performed. I also examine what may be driving gold this time around, as the precious metal is finally trying to come alive after a long walk in the desert for gold bugs since its 2011 peak.
