Highest yielding FTSE stocks with positive momentum

Equities 3 minutes to read

Amid the volatility in financial markets and share pricefluctuations that can seem daunting, investors may seek out income.

Why income?

  • Stable cash flow cushions volatility: Companies that pay reliable dividends provide investors with a steady income stream even when share prices swing, helping smooth overall portfolio returns.

  • Quality bias: Many income stocks are mature, cash-generative businesses with strong balance sheets and resilient business models, which tend to hold up better during market stress.

  • Compounding through reinvestment: Reinvested dividends can buy more shares when prices fall, allowing investors to accumulate assets at lower valuations and enhance long-term returns.

All or none of which may be true of our list of the highest yielding FTSE stocks, but it’sworth contextualising. I’ve used the Saxo TraderGo platform to screen for UK-listed stocks with the highest yield and with positive momentum over both the last 3 months and 1 year, with a minimum market capitalisation of £1bn.

The list is dominated by financials, which may be unsurprising as they are generating strong free cash and have the appetite to return it to shareholders at the moment. A couple of property investment trusts also make an appearance.

  1. JSC Halyk Savings Bank of Kazakhstan (not a FTSE constituent but listed on the London Stock Exchange).

  1. Legal & General Group

  1. Ashmore Group

  1. Standard Life

  1. Aberdeen Group

  1. Primary Health Properties REIT

  1. Land Securities Group REIT

  1. Zigup

  1. M&G

  1. Admiral Group
