Good morning,
A massive week ahead in peak uncertainty.
The USD loses value across the board amid a surge in precious metals and fears or hopes of Japanese intervention in the yen coupled with accompanying USD selling. In just a week, the USD Index fell 1.5% to 97.17. EURUSD rose to 1.1850, USDJPY delivered a massive move from testing 160 to below 155, GBPUSD surged to 1.3660, and USDCHF dropped to a very uncomfortable 0.7777.
Gold and silver continue their parabolic rise, trading at 5080 and 107.50 respectively; platinum stands at 2850, and Bitcoin remains the exception with a decline of 2% at 87700. Equities are suspiciously calm, with the US500 at 6905, the US Tech 100 at 24860, and the US30 at 49030—all basically unchanged. The GER40 is stable at 24860, while the Nikkei moves lower by 1.6% amid intervention fears.
Where do we go from here?
We are heading into a week of maximum uncertainty with four of the Mag-7 reporting earnings, as well as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. The US rate decision and important data points also loom on the horizon. The US is hit with a massive storm, and gas prices surge due to high demand and low storage. The clashes between ICE and demonstrators in Minnesota show a severe lack of institutional control in the US and add worries about the state of the nation.
Trade extremely carefully; we may be looking at a week of massive volatility.
